How to get around Prague
Prague urban transport, which includes trams, buses and the underground, is run by dal Dopravni podnik hl. m. Prahy a.s., and is used by more than one billion passengers a year.
Underground
The Prague underground carries around 400 million passengers a year. It is fast, efficient, clean and easy to use. Its three lines consist of about 50 km of tracks running mostly underground, and some 50 stations
The Prague metro is only about 30 years old and is mostly Russian-built. By 2008, all cars are to be replaced by new ones built by Siemens
The lines currently are:
Line A (Green) - from est to ovest, from Skalka to Dejvická
Line B (Yellow) - from est to ovest, from Černý Most to Zličín
Line C (Rossa) - from nord to sud, from Ládví to Háje
There are three transfer stations in the city centre where two lines intersect:
Můstek (parte bassa di Piazza Venceslao) - linee A e B
Muzeum (parte alta di Piazza Venceslao) - linee A e C
Florenc (main buses station) - linee B e C
These are transfer points from one line to another. Each transfer route is clearly marked and takes 3-5 minutes on foot.
Trains run from 5 a.m. till midnight at 2-3 min. intervals during peak hours and at 4-10 min. intervals in the off hours. All stations are equipped with escalators, some allow access for the disabled.

Tram
Trams (tramvaje) cover a large area of the city (with 500 km of tracks) and are used by some 300 million people a year. Daytime trams run from 4:30 a.m. till midnight every 8 - 10 minute (8 - 15 minutes on weekends). Night trams (numbers 51 - 58) run every 40 minutes from 00:30 a.m. till 4:30 a.m.
Trams 22 and 23
Trams 22 and 23 follow one of Prague's most scenic routes, passing by the National Theatre to Staroměstská and Malostranská metro stations, and continuing up to the Belveder, Prague Castle and Pohořelec, with some stunning views on the way.
The Nostalgic Tram n. 91
The Nostalgic Tram no. 91 (nostalgická linka č. 91) is a historic tram that runs on weekends and holidays from the end of March through mid-November. The tram leaves from Vozovna Střeřovice every hour from 12:00 noon till 6 p.m. and continues through the city centre. The ticket costs 25 Kč for adults, 10 Kč for children and seniors over 70.
Buses
Buses, locally known as autobusy, serve the outskirts of the city. They run from 4.40 to midnight, every 6-8 minutes in peak hours, every 10-20 minutes during the rest of the day and at 15-20 minutes at the weekend. Night buses (numbers 501-512) run every 40 minutes form 00.30 to 4.40.
Funicolar
The funicular goes to the top of Petřín Hill. The stops are Újezd- Nebozizek – Petrin and it runs daily every 10-15 minutes from 9 a.m. to 23:30 p.m. Tickets must be bought before boarding from newspaper stands or kiosks, hotel receptions, department stores, travel agencies and information centres and should be stamped on board in one of the machines. The ticket is only valid if stamped. Tickets are also available at the automatic machines found at all underground stations and must be stamped before going onto the underground platform.
